I don’t have the most career achievements or academic but I have personal ones that could tell
You more about my character. When I was fresh outta school coming into Fire protection I was for a lack of better words lazy I was just a helper doing the things I was asked to do. Pouting my way and complaining about what I was doing. And eventually one of my good friends left and went to Old Dominion. So I said hey get me hired on. It took a few try’s and rejections eventually I got hired. The work environment at OD was so much different it was fast demanding and had to be precise and made me grow up and take responsibility for myself. I’ve never had drove a lift a day in my life. But I was taught and it wasn’t the easiest thing for me and I struggled and I was one of the worst on the dock but as time went on I learned to be more patient with myself so that I become better at the job I had been begging for. I worked the worst shifts 1am-11am and 6pm-6am sacrificing my personal life for myself. I had two whole shifts I had learn how
To work with and turned out I was pretty good and finding ways to work with others finding ways to communicate something that I didn’t do to well but I figured it out to unload and load things and got promoted to a floor stacker in 6 months. I was efficient and quick and could see the trailer and how it should be loaded to the most it could be. So I became
Important. But the honest truth is that I got careless and slipped up and got let go. The job I was good at was gone. So I took a little more responsibility in myself and went back to the fire protection trade I had started my
Young career with. But this time I was more
Prepared for the opportunity I didn’t care
For as a young man. I was brought back to my old job as a helper once again. But I had a good foreman to put a fire under
My tail. And in 6 months I was my
Own foreman running a job running the Jobs I was sent too. I’m proud that it took me leaving my first job growing up just a little bit. Getting released from a dream
Job. And becoming the best version of
Myself today. I’m capable, reliable, vocal, and I most importantly I’m ready for a career in this field of work. So
I’d say my best achievement is my
Personally growth and willingness to be better than I was yesterday.
