- I have operated at the level of a Surgical First Assistant since I was hired. I have extensive experience in orthopedics and gynecology, but I pick up quickly when asked to fill in for other specialties. I currently work with a rotation of doctors each week, but I can quickly adapt to new doctors. Some of my daily tasks include setting up, scrubbing, and assisting with total joints, orthopedic traumas, abdominal GYN, as well as laparoscopic and vaginal surgeries. Some of my other duties include ensuring patients are appropriately and safely positioned and prepped for surgery. At the end of the case, my responsibilities include suture closure, appropriate dressing application, and patient transfer. At the end of my day, I make sure all my cases for the following day are pulled and ready to go.
- I also precept surgical tech and surgical first-assist students, and direct them in performing the job efficiently and effectively.
