Alaska Alternative Spring Break Trip (2x)- I traveled to Bethel, Alaska during spring break with my professor and a few classmates. During my time in Alaska, we helped the school social workers of the Lower Kuskokwim School District (LKSD) host the 2023 & 2024 Costal Basketball Conference which lasted three days. We worked the gate, collecting money and handing out wristbands. Once the tournament was over we visited various social work agencies in Bethel to learn about what roles the social workers have at their agencies and their experience working in rural Alaska. After our visits, we gave a presentation to the school social workers about the organizations we visited, to detail what we learned. Lastly, We also traveled to the village Quinhagak, and did social emotional learning (SEL) activities with the students.
