Ambulatory Surgical Unit duties include:

• Closely monitoring patient vitals and I/Os due to the level of surgical procedures performed.
• Critical thinking and responding promptly to any changes or complications. Giving concise reports to the surgeon when the changes do arise.
• Postoperative care (monitoring incisions, drain sites, administering intravenous and oral medications, and preparing patients for discharge).
• Providing support and education to the patient and family, and discharging them the morning after surgery to help ensure the best recovery outcome.
• Assisting in patient preoperative surgical care after overnight patients have been discharged.

• Educated by Caravan Health on ACO and Population Health Nurse programs to represent EHS as the ACO Care Coordinator.
• Worked with the patients to resolve medical questions or issues, improve communications between the patient and the care team, and assured the patient received exceptional care, impacting their daily lives.
• Contacted patients directly to explain the ACO and AWV (Annual Wellness Visits) program, coordinate their wellness visits with the provider schedules, and perform the visit accordingly.
• Communicated with community organizations to boost outreach and highlight program successes.
• Organized individual patient referrals to obtain community services, including advocating for needs, and resolving roadblocks.
• Coordinated schedules and assignments for volunteer staff, maximizing team efficiency and effectiveness.
• Developed and created programs, and monitored effectiveness against individual participants' needs.
• Referred clients to appropriate team members, community agencies, and organizations to meet treatment needs.

• Assisted in staff recruitment and onboarding, hiring, staff training, and maintained staff schedules.
• Provided direct patient care and many additional tasks under the role of staff charge nurse during staff shortage.
• Resolved conflicts between team members regarding resources or workloads.
• Advised senior leadership on management strategies for the 25-bed med-surg unit (personnel changes, quality patient care, satisfaction score improvement, optimizing resources, etc.)

• Case manager for Med/Surg and the Swingbed Coordinator, where I assisted the hospitalist with admissions, daily care plans, insurance precertification and denials, discharge planning, and patient follow-up care.
• Continued to take patient assignments to provide bedside patient care when needed.

• Staff RN on the Med/Surg unit where I performed direct patient care, prepared patients preoperatively and cared for postop patients who returned to the unit.
• Assisted as Lead RN in training new staff and learned many valuable skills to further my career at EHS.

During my 17 years of employment at this Level 1 Trauma Facility, I worked in several departments, including Savannah Surgical Group (Trauma Surgery), 5C (Surgical Unit), Labor/Delivery and High Risk Unit, Emergency Department, and Center for Breast Care (Breast Disease and Cancer Surgery)

• 2011 Nurse of the Year Award winner and 2013 Nurse of the Year nominee (2nd nomination).
• Key 100 alumni members with tasks involving assisting new hires in their onboarding.
• Super User with EPIC, and assisted in the documentation transfer of patient data to the new system.
• Breast Health Nurse Navigation with the Center for Breast Care, and a member of the Tumor Board Multidisciplinary Team.
• Coordinated schedules for the Chief of Medical Staff (to include his Associate Director of Surgical Residency position, his office patient schedule, surgery schedule, and Chief meeting schedules).
• Educated patients regarding breast cancer diagnoses, assisted in breast procedures and surgeries, obtained insurance precertification for patients, and scheduled their surgeries, as well as medical and radiation oncology appointments.
