  • Managed nursing team including 3 other nurses via daily communication, collaboration, and administration.
  • Oversaw hiring substitute nurses as needed. Coordinated clinic coverage as needed.
  • In addition to administrative role, served as primary Middle School nurse, also serving in the US and LS as needed. Saw up to 60 students a day, averaging 30-40 daily. Minor illness and injuries, medication admin, diabetic care, anxiety, and stress related illnesses. Communicated and consulted with counselors, grade chairs and teachers as needed. Provided on-call emergency care for food allergies, injuries, asthma, CPR/AED, 911/EMS, etc.
  • Oversaw the construction and outfitting of a brand-new Middle School clinic. Procured multiple AEDs for each building on campus and oversaw their installation and instruction as to use.
  • Weekly concussion team meetings with assistant head of MS and athletic trainer. Coordinated concussion care with student, parents, and athletic trainer (if related to athletic event). Oversaw IMPACT testing. Daily check-ins with student and advancement along concussion protocol as tolerated. Referral to concussions specialist as needed.
  • Weekly Care Team meetings to discuss student concerns with counselors, deans, learning specialists, and other administration.
  • Planned and organized Health Day during Faculty Forum. CPR/Choking/AED awareness, epi-pen training, Magnus Health (EMR) training.
  • Partnered with FLIK food services to compile lists with pictures of food allergens and food-related health concerns for all faculty and staff in the division. Specific and more in-depth training with fac/staff regarding students with diabetes, on insulin pumps, and other health concerns.
  • During summer, processed new enrollees into Electronic Medical Records platform, reviewing all pertinent medical information, as well as processing new forms for current students.
  • Oversaw vaccination requirement communication to parents, monitored progress, submitted audit to state Health Department.
  • Planned, staffed, and implemented Annual Health Fair for 500 employees - including flu shots, dermatology screenings, lab health screenings, vision/hearing screenings, chair massages, etc. Partnered with HR to include vendors pertaining to insurance, benefits, and retirement plans. Retired faculty and staff, and their spouses were invited as well.
  • Planned and implemented action plan related to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Served as member of COVID Support Team, attending daily meetings, testing 2500 students, faculty, and staff weekly. Along with the other nurses, participated in parent phone calls, contact tracing, COVID vaccination clinics on campus, etc.
  • Provided basic care to fac/staff and referral to HR if needed to file workman's compensation claims.
  • Attended appropriate Continuing Education and coordinated logistics so other nurses could attend as well. Assure CEUs met to maintain all nursing licenses. Maintaining CPR, Choking, AED certification.
  • Communicated and collaborate with other private school nurses.

PRESENTATIONS

  • Food-Allergy Preparedness Workshop, Buckhead Preparatory School, 2013, Atlanta, GA. Designed and presented a workshop for nearly 30 primary school teachers regarding the Food-Allergy Action Plan at their school. Instructed the attendees regarding recognizing the signs of anaphylaxis, administering Epi-Pen and Auvi-Q medications, as well as best practices regarding increasing awareness school-wide of life-threatening food allergies among primary school aged children.
  • Annual instructional presentations during Faculty Forum to faculty and staff demonstrating the use of school-wide faculty and staff healthcare emergency application, Magnus Mobile. This allowed faculty to access health information for students in an emergency situation. Epi-Pen training was also presented annually.
