Work History

Research Specialist

Emory University School Of Medicine
10.2022 - 05.2023

Hess-Jinnah Laboratory

Dystonia is characterized by involuntary movements resulting from heightened muscular activity. Our study investigates the roles of estrogen and progesterone in mice, examining the effects of these hormones on sex differences and their contributions to dystonia.

Animal Care and Welfare: Provided attentive care for 30 mice, ensuring their well-being and health throughout experimental procedures.

Laboratory Techniques: Conducted weekly PCR tests, RNA Scope in situ hybridization (ISH) assay and Boydens chamber Assay

Surgical Skills: Performed ovariectomies, displaying competence in surgical techniques and ensuring the safety of experimental subjects.

Lab Maintenance and Inventory Management: Proficiently ensured the proper functioning and safety of laboratory equipment, while also managing laboratory supplies and materials. Responsibilities included ordering, organizing, and tracking inventory levels to contribute to efficient lab operations.

Toedebusch Laboratory

  • The UC Davis CURE Program is funded by the National Cancer Institute to addresses the pressing need for a diverse cancer research community that reflects the nation's heterogeneity, and is sensitive to the significant disparities in cancer health across diverse populations
  • My work specifically focused on investigating the role of OLFML3 in promoting glioma cell tumorigenicity. Using a Boydens Chamber Assay, I measured the effects of rhOLFML3 on murine glioma cell migration, invasion, and proliferation. Additionally, I examined the impact of Olfml3 expression knockdown through siRNA on the migration and differentiation phases of angiogenesis in primary mouse brain endothelial cells. By utilizing Matrigel-based tumor microenvironment models, our research uncovered the profound impact of OLML3 on the progression of glioblastoma, an extremely lethal brain tumor without a known cure.
