•Attend high risk deliveries such as meconium, vacuum assist, c-sections, infants born at less than 37 weeks gestation, fetal intolerance
•Admit and stabilize neonates born prematurely, maintain sterile technique while assisting with central line insertions, insert and maintain IVs , follow unit policy and procedures
•Assess infants with respiratory distress, sepsis, and prematurity complications
•Support and educate families during high stress and end of life situations
•Communicate and collaborate with providers, coworkers and respiratory therapists
•Care for infants, children, and adolescents with complex congenital and acquired cardiac diseases
•Perform a thorough patient assessment, monitor for clinical changes, and advocate for patient’s needs and interventions
•Postoperative cardiac surgery care, pain management, chest tube and wound vac management
•Communicate with other healthcare professionals to determine the best plan of care based on the needs of patient and their family
•Serve as a resource nurse to coworkers to provide assistance with patient needs and clinical changes
•Implementing CLABSI prevention bundle when accessing a central line for lab draws, medication administration or dressing changes
•Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively while prioritizing patient care while maintaining patient safety and satisfaction
•Perform general nursing responsibilities; assessment, medication administration, admissions/discharges, developing a plan of care
•Act as a preceptor and resource for travel nurses and new graduate nurses
•Implement policy and procedures in place as well as utilizing evidence based practice
