Work History

Field Tech B, Field Tech C, Crew Lead, APS

Atlanta Gas Light
Brunswick
05.2014 - Current
  • When I entered my position with Atlanta Gas Light, I was required to attend multiple classes to qualify me to do certain tasks. I obtained my CDL, as it was required for my position on the distribution crew. I passed classes and observations that qualified me to work with the company. I was qualified to work below ground, and above ground. As a field tech C, part of my job is working in both fields. One day, I could be working on leaks in meter sets or turn-ons, and the next, I could be working below ground, making repairs on any size pipe or killing services. I have been part of an 'on-call' rotation as well. I have been called about leaks and damages many times at any given hour of the night. I worked my way up in the company to a crew lead. I have worked on several jobs that required me to take charge and make my own judgment calls, from working on retirements to damages. I have repaired and performed maintenance on steel and plastic pipes ranging from all sizes. I am very familiar with using Globe and GIS. I have been on standby while crews worked around our pipe and assisted in any way I could to keep our assets from being damaged. I took on the role in asset protection in 2022. Since taking on this role, I have expanded my knowledge of Georgia dig law, I have learned how to use Globe more proficiently, and I use it on a daily basis. I have worked on multiple different projects for all utilities. I have been a part of pre-con meetings. I touch base with the local inspectors and contractors for AGL to keep up with current jobs going on in the area. I have assisted contractors with coming up with new routes to ensure our gas lines are not in conflict and won't be damaged. I have built good relationships with other companies for AGL.

Laborer, Relight Technician

Southeast Connections
01.2013 - 05.2014
  • I started my position at SEC when they took over the contract for Atlanta Gas Light in 2014. I started out as a laborer working mostly on plastic pipe. We would run new services ranging from 1/2" to 1 1/4" pipe. I also had experience with 2" and 4" mains. Soon after starting, I was offered a position as their relight technician. I had to take a two week class at AGL's Riverdale training facility. I passed the class the first time I took it and after completing the class I began breaking down and rebuilding meter sets. I would tie customer's meter sets into the new services being ran. When finished connecting meter sets to the fuel line, I would relight the customer's appliances. During my time there, I was responsible for transferring over two thousand customers onto the new services. I also spent a week in Atlanta using leak detecting equipment to check new services for leaks and making repairs on anything that was left. My time came to an end with SEC when a position at Atlanta Gas Light became available in my home town.

Laborer, Welder's Helper

Infrasource
04.2012 - 01.2013
  • My time at Infrasouce was my first experience around natural gas. The first job I was on we ran a steel service to an asphalt plant. Over the next nine months I would work around mostly steel ranging in different size pipes. We would run new services regularly, which included putting tees on mains, installing bypasses, stopping off and tapping mains. My job would be to dig the holes, get anything the welder needed, cleaning the pipe and making the taps, as well as creating new service cards. My time ended as a contractor with Infrasource when the company left Georgia due to losing the contract with Atlanta Gas Light.

Cook, Cashier, Manager

Shane's Rib Shack
02.2007 - 04.2012
  • I began working in the kitchen as a cook, over time I worked my way through different positions in the restaurant. I later started working in the front as a cashier and eventually became a manager. Some of my duties as a manager included being responsible for making truck orders for the restaurant, handling any problems with customers, creating the schedule every week for 2 different stores, and handling all banking. I left my position in 2012 when I was offered a job as a contractor for Atlanta Gas Light.
