Responsible for maintaining various equipment such as

• Pumps
• Gear reducers
• Drive chains
• Bearings
• Refiner hydraulic systems
• Hagglunds hydraulic systems
• Filter replacements

Daily work consisted of safely following lube routes checking oil levels and condition, greasing bearings on equipment such as conveyors, agitators, refiners, pumps, Andritz pulp and paper equipment. listening for changes in sound of equipment, checking overall condition of equipment to help reduce oil consumption and increase equipment life.

Duties of general mechanic include

• Inspection/replacement of pumps, piping, valves, chain drives, belt drives, gear reducers.
• Troubleshooting hydraulic systems
• Troubleshooting pneumatic systems
• Bearing replacement
• Changing refiner plates
• Welding
• Using oxy acetylene torch
• Fabrication
• Using various hand and power tools to complete tasks
• Correctly using precision measuring tools including, dial indicators, micrometers, feeler gauges, calipers, torque wrenches
• Precision alignment of equipment using laser computer
• Completing precision paperwork
• Operating forklifts, manlifts, and small cranes to complete jobs

Of all the things listed above safety was always at the forefront of every job. Before every job team members would get together and discuss job steps and to look for potential hazards.
