  • The Cleared American Guard (CAG) will perform access control functions at all vehicle and pedestrian entrances to the site throughout the construction or project period.
  • Ensure that all persons, packages, bags, boxes, crates, vehicles, or other means of introducing material onto the construction site or into the secure areas are inspected for questionable or prohibited items.
  • Denying introduction of prohibited materials such as explosives, weapons, electronic devices, or other items as specified by the Accrediting Official (AO) or designee.
  • Conducting random inspections of all site areas to ensure no prohibited materials have been brought on to the site. All suspicious materials or incidents shall be brought to the attention of the SSM or TL.
  • Surveil the perimeter and internal secure areas through the use of Government-furnished closed circuit television (CCTV) systems and other intrusion detection systems (IDS).
  • Rove the construction site after-hours, per the Site Security Manager’s orders, to protect the integrity of Controlled Access Areas (CAA) and its materials.

  • Escorts un-cleared personnel into designated areas (CAA and non-CAA buildings, offices, and SDAs) and monitors personnel performing maintenance and cleaning duties including cleaning offices, corridors, bathrooms, stairwells, and other areas, including floors, walls, and windows.
  • Monitors normal custodial services as required. Daytime cleaning will be accomplished in areas where after-hours access to controlled areas is not permitted.
  • Perform light cleaning in areas of the Embassy where only cleared Americans are granted access.
  • Dusting, sweeping, washing, vacuuming, polishing, replacing lights, trash collection and removal, and replenishment of toilet supplies as directed.
  • Carpet shampooing as necessary.
  • Work ten hours/day six days a week minimum, with availability for afterhours call outs and emergencies.
  • Work in U.S. Embassy Controlled Access Area (CAA) buildings, non-CAA buildings, Staff Diplomatic Apartments (SDA) and other assigned DOS facilities in Kabul, Afghanistan.
  • Work on facilities/sites that lead to exposure to the dangers inherent with such sites.
  • Perform Mail Clerk as needed.
