- My designs were implemented referencing Georgia Department of Transportation’s Design Policy Manual which is the primary resource for design guidelines and standards for roadway design. The Plan Development Process was properly followed to ensure the design plans were produced in a logical sequence with minimal errors.
My design Plans were created using Microstation V8i and InRoads V8i(select series 2) software. The InRoads software generated the design presented in the Plans and the Microstation CADD platform was mainly used to amend any errors from Inroads design for better Plan presentation and comprehension.
My designs were produced according to GDOT’s Plan Presentation Guide needed for the different sections of a typical Plan set. The electronic data was submitted according to GDOT’s Electronic Data Guideline’s naming convention and format.
I attended a Concept Team Meeting for a Bridge Rehabilitation Project to discuss the project background, justification, location of environmental resources and permits required, maintenance of traffic during construction, temporary access requirements, construction limits, Right of Way estimates, proposed design criteria and typical sections.
I proceeded with Preliminary design of the Bridge Rehabilitation Project upon receiving Survey which presented existing conditions and Property limits. The proposed horizontal alignment was created on a tangent and the proposed vertical alignments were created in compliance with the required rate of curvature for the project design speed.
I coordinated with the Office of Environmental Services to ensure that the project was in compliance with Federal and State Environmental laws. I also coordinated with the Bridge Design Office for the placement of the bridge structure and bridge hydraulic study.
I created the full set of plans which included Typical Sections, Staging Plans, Mainline Plans, Erosion Control Plans, Cross sections, Signing and Marking in preparation for the Preliminary Field Plan Review. The Preliminary Field Plan Review was conducted by the Office of Engineering Services to discuss any discrepancies in the plan set to prepare for accurate plans prior to let to construction.
In addition to design work I attended a Public Information Open House that was held to address any inquiries the Public may have about future construction. In construction, I trained on a roadway widening project ensuring all Erosion Control devices are installed and maintained in accordance with the GDOT Specifications book, drainage was installed according to the design plans. I managed 2 asphalt resurfacing projects, a bridge rehabilitation project to ensure the contractor abided by the terms of the Special Provisions in the contract and quality work was produced in accordance with the GDOT Specifications book. I inspected the contractor’s installation, maintenance of Traffic Control during the life of the projects. - Designed infrastructure projects following state and federal regulations.
