- Developed a novel photo-irradiation process utilizing glycosyl and benzhydryl phosphonium ions, achieving the first documented product yield through SN2-like substitution in the laboratory.
- Facilitated glycosidic bond formation independent of external catalysts or reagents, thereby promoting advancements in green chemistry practices.
- Validated product formation through high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry; employed Laser Flash Photolysis to monitor real-time mechanistic behavior.
- Engineered fluorene-based glycosyl donors, enhancing efficient fluoride release and acceptor activation upon UV exposure, and fluorene per glucopyranoside were synthesized to expand the method's scope for photoglycosylation.
- Developed a novel method for photo-induced hydrogel, enabling spatiotemporal control with enhanced reactivity, selectivity, and water solubility.
- Synthesized and purified small molecule precursor to Photo-SPAAC linker: Sondheimer diyne.
- Synthesized azide handles for modification of biocompatible polymers. FT-IR, MALDI-TOF, and elemental analysis to confirm success of modification.
- Performed UV-Vis studies of photo onset of gelation, kinetics studies for rate of gelation, MALDI-TOF, SEM to characterize porosity and mechanical properties.
- Performed HPLC, GC-MS analysis to confirm crosslinking between the Photo-SPAAC linker and modified polymer.
