Job Description:

As a Sports Management Intern at Anderson University, you will play an integral role in the planning, execution, and wrap-up of athletic events. This position provides hands-on experience in sports operations, event management, and game-day logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Setup & Teardown

• Assist in the preparation and setup of athletic facilities for games, including field/court arrangements, signage placement, and equipment organization.

• Ensure that all necessary materials, such as scoreboards, PA systems, and seating arrangements, are properly installed before events.

• Break down and clean up event areas post-game, returning equipment to storage and ensuring venues are restored to their original condition.

Concessions & Ticketing

• Help organize and stock concession stands before events, ensuring inventory is adequate for game-day operations.

• Assist in selling and distributing tickets at the entrance, managing crowd flow, and verifying credentials when necessary.

• Handle basic cash and electronic transactions for concessions and ticket sales while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

• Assist in post-event reconciliation of ticket sales and concessions, ensuring proper financial reporting and restocking supplies.

Game-Day Operations & Logistics

• Support event staff in coordinating volunteer workers, officials, and team personnel.

• Monitor game-day logistics, addressing any issues that arise in real-time to ensure a smooth event experience.

• Assist in crowd control and provide directions to attendees, ensuring safety and organization throughout the event

This role involves supervising open gym sessions, enforcing facility rules, and assisting with gym operations to promote a positive experience for all participants.

• Monitor the basketball gym to ensure all participants follow YMCA rules and safety guidelines.

• Maintain a safe playing environment by preventing rough play, inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized activities.

• Respond to any incidents, injuries, or conflicts in a calm and professional manner, reporting issues to YMCA staff as needed.

Member Engagement & Assistance

• Greet and interact with members, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

• Provide basic assistance to players, such as explaining gym policies, organizing pickup games, and answering questions about schedules.

• Encourage good sportsmanship and positive interactions among participants.

Facility Maintenance & Setup
