Work History

Certified Pharmacy Technician

Meds By Mail
08.2018 - Current
  • Customer service is a big role in my daily duties.Answering Incoming phone calls and address questions from customers and healthcare providers taking care of our beneficiaries with their refills and sending messages to the doctors when the patients are out of refills, helping nurses get prescriptions sent to us when issues arise such as, the nurses may need assistance with locating our pharmacy and making sure they send medication orders to correct pharmacy.
  • Phone calls with patients also include maintaining their demographic information is correct, verify spelling of name, address, phone number and allergies if any.
  • Checking CPRS notes for certain calls when we do med lists, death of beneficiaries or if our return mail dept has reshipped an item it will be documented in that section.
  • Mail scanning- Some doctors offices still write out prescriptions. In these cases we have a machine that will scan these images in, once scanned a technician inputs the order like any other prescription. We also receive refill slips that patients send us instead of calling in and speaking with a representative. When receiving these slips they are scanned into our vista system this keeps benefeciaries from having to call in and wait on the line, this helps us maintain good customer service for our patients.
  • I am also proficient in the deficiency ques in both platforms utilized at MbM. These ques, ID issue and HI are where we send problematic prescriptions that require more attention. I work in these ques to solve whatever issue is wrong with that prescription. It could be an address issue, the name is spelled wrong, sometimes there is no directions on the prescription. These ques are like puzzles we have to put together to figure out why is it not flowing the way it should.
  • TOE-tech order entry is part of my duties. This is where doctors send us the prescriptions and we input the orders from there and put them in where the pharmacists can verify the orders and send them to our CMOP which is the actual pharmacy the medications come from.
  • It is my responsibility to know how to check inventory for a patient when the med is out of stock to see if its in or still on backorder, I do this by checking our daily cmop shortage report email and through the product line search in the cmop website.

Additional Information

I am highly trained and professional in any pharmacy environment. I have worked in every arena of a pharmacy, hospital, retail, compounding, inpatient and outpatient pharmacies. I have worked as a lead technician in a extremely busy pharmacy some weeks doing nearly 4,000 scripts. I made the schedule and maintained a smooth running pharmacy. I maintained the flow from data entry, insurance, filling meds, verifying accuracy before the pharmacist checked the prescription. I ordered the medications from control to non controlled medications. I also assisted with maintaining a certain amounts of medicine for inventory and made sure we never had to much or not enough of each drug.

I believe in being a hard worker at all times, I want to always try and to do my very best when taking care of patients. Customer service is very important and these patients depend on me to take care of their needs. I take pride in knowing I have done my best to make the patients happy every day and to make sure they have all they need from our pharmacy. I am a very hard worker with a excellent work ethic. I will always do everything I can to take care of these patients and also to encourage others around me to do the same. I believe we should strive to treat our patients like family therefore doing what it takes to assist them no matter what is needed. People come and call a pharmacy because they need our help and i believe we should assist them and take care of whatever they may need. They are there because they need us and i am going to give 110% at all times to help them where i can.
